RUTO LEAVES THE COUNTRY FOR THE QUEEN ELIZABETH II'S BURIAL IN UK

His Excellency Dr. William Ruto, president of the republic of Kenya

The newly elected president of Kenya, Dr. William Ruto, left the country on Sunday afternoon, his first trip abroad since his inauguration on September 13, 2022.

Before arriving in the United States, the president will make a stop in London, United Kingdom, to attend the burial of Queen Elizabeth II.

Mama Racheal Ruto, Kenya's first lady, travels with him.

Nearly 200 leaders from all over the world will attend the burial, according to an article in the Washington Post.

Because it is complex to schedule landing slots all around the same time, it is likely that President Ruto and his wife will be taking commercial flights to London.

Almost every country or territory that has diplomatic relations with Britain has been invited.

Some, including Russia, Belarus and Myanmar, declined the invitation.

Ambassadors from North Korea, Iran, and Nicaragua were invited to attend, but not their heads of state.

As part of the invitation, King Charles III will host a reception at Buckingham Palace on Sunday night and another reception immediately after the funeral.

Volodymyr Zelensky's wife, Olena Zelenska, is attending, but it is not expected that her husband will as well.

The leaders will be directed to park their private cars in west London upon arrival.

Heads of state and their partners will arrive at Westminster Abbey by coach on the day of the funeral, Politico reports.

After the burial, the heads of state will be taken back to their holding area, where they will be allowed to take their cars to the airport.

President Ruto then heads to New York later this week for the 77th General Assembly of the UN. The assembly will start September 20 and runs until September 26, 2022.

Its 193 member states each have an equal vote in the UN General Assembly, the main policy-making body of the organization.

During the forum, all international issues covered by the United Nations Charter will be discussed multilaterally.

Rigathi Gachagua, the president's deputy, will run the country while he is away.
