If you want something bad enough, then a positive mindset is only going to get you so far. No matter what your goal is -- weight loss, money or anything else – if it’s worth having, it’s going to take more than positive thinking and determination. It’s going to take real strategy.

REALIZE THAT THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING TO LEARN

No matter what we want to achieve, there is always something more we can learn and continue trying. 
Every day you will be faced with difficulties that feel insurmountable, but they're really only as tough as you make them.
And every day you'll be faced with opportunities you don't even know exist because of how much self-doubt is running your show. It's hard, but the only way out is through.

When you measure progress, your whole life changes. It doesn't just change what you do-it changes how you do everything.
This is because measuring progress means celebrating all the small accomplishments you have along the way-and there are lots of them.

PUT IN TIME AND EFFORT INTO WHAT MATTERS MOST

One of the secrets to achieving anything you want is time and effort. This may sound obvious, but it's so important that it deserves a mention.
The point here is, you'll only get what you put into it. For example, if you really want a nice car but all you do is stare at pictures of luxury cars on your social media feed, then don't expect a nice car in your driveway anytime soon!
Don't underestimate the power of time and effort when trying to achieve anything in life.

When I feel stressed, instead of going straight for the candy jar on my desk I might decide to go for a walk around the block.
The point is this: when we're trying to solve a problem that persists over time, we need look no further than our own behaviors for clues on how to fix it!

DON'T GET CAUGHT UP IN THE TRAPS WE ALL FALL INTO
We all want a successful, happy life, but many of us forget that we are responsible for our own success.
Most people don't achieve their goals because they allow themselves to get caught up in these common traps:
-waiting for inspiration
-doing something wrong and thinking it will make them feel better
-suffering from comparison syndrome
-having no strategy and feeling lost
-making the same mistakes over and over again.

First, one of my favorite quotes from Brian Tracy that I have taped up above my desk is: Successful people are always looking for opportunities to help others.
Unsuccessful people are always asking, 'What's in it for me?' This is something I firmly believe and I try to practice it every day. Giving back just feels good and gets you out of your own head about whatever has been troubling you.
It doesn't matter if it's volunteering at a local food pantry or simply being kinder to someone who doesn't deserve it; doing nice things can be a great way to stop feeling stuck
